Community development is a process where community members are supported by agencies to identify and agree collective actions on issues which are important to them. Community development empowers community members and creates stronger and more connected, resilient communities.
Community development is a holistic approach, grounded in principles of empowerment, human rights, social inclusion and justice. Community development has an explicit to address the causes of inequality and disadvantage.
We support residents’ groups to implement their work through providing administration support, making funding applications, planning, awareness raising and liaising with the local authority.
“Awareness is empowering” – Rita Wilson (American actor and singer).
Once we are aware, we are conscious about an issue or problem, and we develop an understanding of the importance of the issue and highlighting it.
Some of our awareness raising campaigns includes:
- International Women’s Day / Men’s Day
- Mental Health Week
- LGBT+ Community – PRIDE
- Eradication of Poverty
- Social Inclusion Week
- 16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women
- Covid Health Information
